The door

The door does the most work.

It opens hundreds of times a day, so every part on it is heavy-duty.

  • Heavy chrome hinges Carry the door's weight for years
  • Locking latch Opens from the inside too, so no one gets shut in
  • Diamond-plate kick plate Takes carts, boots and dollies
  • Gasket + heater wire Seals tight; the heater keeps freezer doors from icing shut
  • Temperature display The box temperature at a glance
The walls

Foam, steel, locked tight.

Every wall is a sandwich: steel skin, thick foam, steel skin. The panels lock together, so we can build any size, and move it later.

  • Foam core Usually 4 inches thick. It keeps the cold in
  • Cam locks Pull each panel tight to the next
  • Embossed steel skins Easy to clean, hard to dent
  • Insulated floor Holds the cold in from below
The refrigeration

The whole system rides on top.

This box uses a top-mount unit: compressor, coil and fans in one piece on the roof. Nothing to run through your building.

  • Compressor Pumps the refrigerant around the loop
  • Condenser coil Lets the heat out
  • Condenser fan Pulls air through the coil
  • Controls Defrost timing and safety switches
Inside

Cold air, all the way around.

The coil in the ceiling pulls the heat out. Fans push cold air across the top, down the walls and back again.

  • Evaporator The cold side, built into the ceiling
  • Airflow Keep shelves a few inches off the walls so air can move
